Panels
6-Panel
Baseball caps are most often made with six panels. Panels are the wedges of material that are stitched together to form the hat. 6-panels creates a professional, tailored look. A drawback of 6-panels is there is a seam down the center of the front. This prevents screen printers from being able to print on the front-center. Commercial embroidery can stitch over the seam.
5-Panel
Five-panel caps fashion caps manufactured so decorators can print them without a seam interfering with the design. They have a partial seam, or dart, near the crown of the cap. They typically have a point at the top the front panel where the dart stops.
